Bala Cynwyd, Pa. — At a home gathering in Bala Cynwyd on Sunday, neighbors, civic leaders, and local elected officials gathered to launch the campaign for Jason Landau Goodman to serve as the next State Representative for the 148th House District. The 148th includes a majority of Lower Merion Township, all of Whitemarsh Township, and all of Narberth Borough. Jason will be running in the 2026 election as a Democratic candidate.

Jason is a fourth generation Lower Merion resident who is an environmental attorney, civil rights advocate, and community organizer with over 15 years of experience in successful advocacy within local and state government across Pennsylvania.

Regarding the announcement, Jason said:

“Our communities urgently need proactive, innovative, and relentless representation to serve them at home and in Harrisburg. While our Democracy is facing unprecedented challenges, we must send our strongest fighters to the front lines. I am proud to already have the serious backing of school board members, local government officials, and Democratic committee members in our district. Together, our communities can meet this moment when we mobilize for the change we need. The time is now to actively leverage this seat as a platform for the greatest good to help our neighbors and commonwealth.”

Jason has been a champion for LGBTQ civil rights protections for nearly 20 years, having spearheaded the successful passage of the Lower Merion nondiscrimination ordinance, and subsequently helping launch and help a statewide civil rights organization he helmed for over a decade with scores of policy wins. As a longtime, persistent advocate in Harrisburg, Jason has developed expertise in state government policy, operations, and advocacy. While an attorney for the Governor’s Office of General Counsel, Jason advised the Department of Environmental Protection and litigated before the Environmental Hearing Board. Jason’s priorities as a State Representative will include addressing affordability, environmental protection, and infrastructure.

Jason will continue engaging in voter outreach at the doors this fall in support of Democratic candidates up and down the ballot. Jason is using his legal background to bring special attention to the many important judicial races and retention elections this November.

Jason will dedicate every day to earning the support of voters across the 148th House District through communicating his background, experience, and vision. He plans to knock on thousands of doors and connect with communities throughout Lower Merion, Whitemarsh, and Narberth heading into 2026.
